On 2nd October 2019, WMARS members had also organized a plastic waste management workshop at Government New Secondary School, Vermatal, Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh. School students were given tips on how they can replace single use plastic from their daily lives. They listened to our tips and learnt from it. They promised not to use plastic bags, instead they will use cloth bags. They were instructed to aware their elders at home as well. They understood the importance of banning the plastic and they wanted to actively work for it as they knew it was very much needed if they wanted to have a beautiful life in their near future.
WMARS members distributed cloth bags around the city of Tikamgarh to encourage people not to use plastic bags. They told the households as well as the shopkeepers about how plastic is poison for us all and how we are using it in very large amount which we should not do. We need to stop.
An awareness session by WMARS members was organised at the Budkikhera Village Government Primary School in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. School students were educated on single use plastic and were told only to use cloth bags and not plastic bags. Students also took an Oath “from now on we will not use plastic”. WMARS cloth bags were also given to the students. These bags were given to the students as a message which they could show to their house menbers as well and could inspire them too. Also, a rally took place around the village wherein many children and people participated. Also, a plastic bank was made which went around in the rally wherein, people were asked to put plastic waste, they went on cleaning the roads and whatever plastic material they got, they collected it and submitted it to the bank and then bank segregated the waste and disposed it off properly. This process was also shown to the students as well as to the villagers to spread the awareness.
"No to single use plastic" campaign also took place at Batiyagarh, Madhya Pradesh. First the Plastic Waste Management Awareness Session took place and then the school students went around the city on a rally telling everyone about how harmful it is to use singe use plastic and we should stop using it and should firmly say no to it.
WMARS members along with the students carried out a rally and went from door to door and spread the awareness by asking people not to use plastic disposable plates and glasses and told them that it is best to use paper plates as thermocol and plastic plates do not get disposed off properly. Also they distributed cloth bags to the villagers and the best part was the students were actively involved in this whole process and they were eager to spread awareness on abandoning usage of plastic.
Students made posters and showcased their creativity and made it easier for everyone to understand as in what materials they could use instead of plastic and which plastic material they should not use. They made it evident through their posters.
A drawing competition was also organized at Girls Government School in Damoh to encourage students. The drawing topic given to students was, “Say NO TO Single-Use-Plastic”. Every student used their part of imagination and efficiently drew it out on paper. After the drawing competition, all the students were given participation certificate and winners were given cloth bags by WMARS members.
Plastic Waste Management Awareness Session along with drawing competition took place at the Daffodil School in Mhow. Students understood the importance of segregation and disposal of plastic waste and the drawing competition encouraged them to bring out their creative imagination on paper. All the participants were given certificate of participation and the winners were given certificates, cloth bag and a t-shirt.
